“Not as dumb as you. Raider. You tiny dumb raider.”
Bluejay glared at him. He knew it was a stupid thing to do in his position. But he couldn’t help it. He really hated raiders.
“You have no idea how dumb you sound right now. Dumb idiot dumb guy.”
How did he wind up with guard duty? He sighed in frustration and glared right back. This was the worst.
“I’m not even tiny. Your dumb brain is tiny.”

“Nah, I got ‘em…” Bluejay, geared up in power armor, was still scared as hell. Mirelurks, super mutants, no problem… Deathclaws and raiders, piece of cake. They hadn’t torn his little brother and parents limb from limb.
If he hadn’t been in power armor, it would be obvious to see his hands shaking. Still, he hadn’t raised his gun.
“Bluejay…” Oops, looks like she’d caught one’s attention. She raised her own weapon, looking over at Bluejay with concern. It raised its head and looked their way with empty black eyes, growling loudly.
“Okay, you really don’t have to–” She was cut off by a snarling and the sound of the feral starting to run their way. She took aim at the nearest one, but held off on firing, waiting to see if he would take it down before it got too close. The second looked their way as well and followed the others lead.

Bluejay laughed, tossing the underwear into the washer. “Lucky duck. You’re tiny though, I bet they were kid pants. My hips too big for that.” He put his hands on his hips and shimmied them to prove his point. Then hip checked the washer with a florish of his arms and the top came down with a ‘bang’. Bluejay straightened the barely attached lid and turned it on.
Dorothy brought a hand up to her face and giggled. What a goofball. She grinned and shoved her hands in her pockets, “Yeah, I’m pretty sure I wear an extra large in boys. Makes for some real cute underwear.”
She nodded, she didn’t own a plain pair of undies. “I’ll find you a cute one, too.” Or maybe she would have to make one. “Then we’ll match. Everyone’ll be so jealous.”

“Son of a…” He groaned out as she pulled him from the frame. His breathing was labored, he leaned his head into her as she cradled him but he knew he couldn’t just give in. She was panicked. He could smell his own blood, though he was fairly sure it was because his nose was bleeding even over the swamp colored gunk on his face, but if mirelurks smelled blood, more of them would come.
“Get me up… I can walk. We gotta go, babe.” He didn’t sound as if he could walk. He could barely keep his eyes open and they stung like all hell. He had to clean his face off with soap and water or the effect would only spread, so he didn’t bother wiping at his face.
“O-okay... okay...” She hoisted him up and moved so he was resting on her back. He said he could walk, but somehow she doubted it would be much help. She was sure it would be faster to just try to carry him back. So, she braced herself on the ground and hauled them both up rather clumsily.
She stumbled over her first couple steps but just managed not to topple over. Lord, he was heavy. Which way was the garage again? Dammit, she needed to calm down and think.
