As much time as he'd spent in Gotham, it was still strange working with someone other than Bruce or one of the others. Most of the time he worked on his own, patrolling the city and keeping people out of trouble. This time, though, he was working with someone Bruce knew and he still wasn't certain just how good an idea this was. He hadn't gotten a lot of information and the other didn't seem willing to share. Which meant should either of them find trouble they wouldn't have anyone to call on. Not something Jonathan looked forward to. But they were there and if they could find out if they were behind the recent troubles it would be worth whatever else they came across. And maybe he could pick up a thing or two from the other man. "Guess that's what makes it fun. So which way do you think this lab is?"

HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN?     last  they  properly  spoke,    saw  each  other  back  on  earth,     she’d  been  a  different  person.     younger   &&   naive,     spooked  by  her  time  on  vulcan:     terrified  of  how  alien  what  she’d  believed  her  own  culture  felt.     her  mother   -   with  all  her  attempts  to  shape  and  reshape  her    -    all  her  attempts  to  make  maeve  succeed  at  life...    set  her  up  for  endless  failure  in  her  efforts  to be  anyone  outside  of  her  life.  

maeve  had  been  so  certain  her  future  was  going  to  be  settled  on  earth.     engaged.     successful.     but  the  discovery  corridor  is  bright  and  cold,     her  past  three  years  have  been  spent  bouncing  between  so  many  ships  she’s  so  easily  lost  track  of  those  she  once  kept  track  of.

OKay ! So ! Lea / @atomiism is such a delight ? Every aspect of Ray's life and personality have been thought out with such careful affection that the canon writers could only dream about having such talent. And that's before even getting started on how beautiful her edits / themes are, everything's always incredibly aesthetic.

idealists always seem to induce migraines, and cheerful idealists always seem to induce them faster, so maria’s long fingers press firmly to her temples in an attempt to hold back the burgeoning headache she already feels forming. she’s not unsympathetic-- it’s hard to look upon violence and see it as empty. the acceptance of senselessness is something she’s honed through years and years of seeing the worst of humanity, and she still remembers the feeling of reaching for meaning and coming up with nothing but dust. but the truth is, sometimes, the meaning doesn’t matter. motivations are meaningless when there’s a villain that needs stopping. reason or no, her actions are going to be the same.
