Finding Purchase II Closed
" I sought my soul, but my soul I could not see. I sought my God, but my God eluded me. I sought my brother and I found all three. ~Author Unknown"
-- The sirens wailed.
They wailed with the sharp oh so familiar sound that pierced ears of civilians and heroes, men and women that no longer were regarded as such by anyone outside the hungry and broken population of the city. Every evening, at the stroke of nine, they would start the assault of high pitched tones and would last for fifteen minutes before fading away, replaced by the sounds of machines, sentinels, or screams and gunfire.
They didn't cause any other emotion in him but annoyance, still Thor waited patiently, squinting at the sky, waited for the noise to end. He had promised to wait, this time, feet firmly planted on the concrete floor leading to their hideout, but the moment the last tone faded he was on the move.
Caution. No flying, not yet and not while the helicopters were still making their rounds.
Stark had warned him, excessively, almost spat the words right after divulging information that there may be some other alien life form only a few blocks away. In the rare moments that they managed to tap enough power from the plant to run scans something, someone, was revealed on the screens, something familiar. That something had caused Stark to go on a rant that lasted for few minutes before the inventor had noticed they had no effect on the Aesir. I can't be sure, don't be stupid, I only said it was a similar reading, don't you fucking dare Thor..
He dared, of course, dared to move quietly through alley's and swiftly changing position from shadow to shadow dared to hope, if only a little. The need to be sure, to have no doubt about what was revealed to be present in the city, it gave purpose to tired muscles and weary mind, encouraged the asgardian to keep moving until the building came into sight. The worn down wood of the door didn't offer much resistance and once inside, senses assaulted by darkness, dust and horrible smells Thor felt his heart slowly being consumed by disappointment, moved forward with cautious steps despite the feeling placing weight on his chest.
