Yellow and Tan for the writers ask game! <3
Hi lovely! Thank you so much for the ask! ♥
Yellow: What’s a common writing tip that you mostly ignore?
“Set a writing schedule and stick to it.”
Never worked for me. And believe me, I’ve tried. I do keep a loose writing schedule - I try to write a minimum of 100 words Monday - Friday. But my creativity has always been like a roller-coaster. When it’s down, I can’t string two words together. So, sometimes when that happens, I generally need to recharge instead of put out stuff. (I still keep a journal, but I don’t write stories in that time, I read them, watch them, do non-writing things, etc.)
I don’t *like* that I have periods of “inactivity” when it comes to writing. I want a consistent output. But I also know how many years that left me extremely dissatisfied and running on empty. So I had to make my own schedule that worked for me, and that includes welcoming “do nothing days”.
Tan: Are you open to co-writing a story?
That’s a good question! The one time I tried to co-write a story with someone, the other person just...never did anything and it fell apart. But I would dearly LOVE to bounce ideas around with someone and see what comes out of our brainstorming.
So, it would really depend on the connection between co-authors and if our writing styles, methods, etc. meshed. I procrastinate, I like control, I get socially exhausted very easily and disappear to recharge. My co-author would have to be an extremely patient person! :P But I’d definitely consider it!
