The cover of Sony’s tape recorder & radio brochure - 1958.
We often treated recording as a snapshot of where we were as a band at that moment, but Joan (Jett) reminded us that recording was not neutral; it was an art in itself. She showed us that containing our rawness beneath a pop sheen could create an undeniable tension. And putting some effects on my voice wasn't the equivalent of airbrushing me out of the picture. I was a strong enough vocalist to blow through a little sheen and still be heard. I also learned it was okay to have fun in the studio. We'd always been stressed about money and had just gotten stuff done as quickly as we could. And then when we mixed, I'd be so freaked out that I'd hide somewhere and smoke a pack of cigarettes instead of listening to the sound of my own voice. But this was different. (...) At the end (of recording Miss Mary Mack as the intro to "Demirep",) you can hear me say, "They're laughing at us," and Joan replies, "We're having fun!"

personalized sony discman manual
this one is super specific to me, but hey! if anyone else has a discman (you should get one!!) and needs human translation from an audio engineer zinemaker, this is for you!
LOL that is my exact model... I named her DJ cause of the model name and it's disc jockeying?!? I thought it was clever. I've been using it all the time and I love it very very much. Clearly.
Hey everyone! There’s a production that needs YOUR help! 🫵
This isn’t just a casting call. Kandaken needs your support. Yes, you. And you don’t have to do anything special to give it. You just have to subscribe to this channel:
Share your videos with friends, family, and the world
Lemme tell you about the production itself.
Kandaken tells the story of a species called Wokis - wonderful creatures who are sworn to protect the forest and all creatures who live in it, fighting against countless enemies to do so. The story follows one Woki in particular, Bluetail.
Bluetail, after his father’s death, attempts to carry on his legacy as a fighter by sneaking into an army camp. In doing so, he befriends two other Wokis, Flame and Melody, and the three embark on new adventures; trying to survive a magical, chaotic, and apocalyptic world!
Sound entertaining? Some big league indie companies think so, too! Kandaken has caught the attention of a potential partner that would bolster its views and production budget. This is huge for everyone involved in the Kandaken project.
There’s just one caveat. They need to prove that they’ll have enough engagement from viewers, so they need to expand their viewership- and fast.
If you’re interested in following Kandaken’s story, please do consider subscribing to their channel. It doesn’t cost you a thing, but it means everything to the people who care about this project.
AND if you’re a voice actor, animator, artist, writer, audio technician, or a music producer, then feel free to join their Discord server and show ‘em what you’ve got!
The official community for Kandaken - a soon to come animated series about war, friendship, music and everything in between! Prepare yoursel
It’s all hands on deck, and they need YOUR talent.
Thank you so much if you read all of this. Even if you’re not interested in contributing directly, please repost so we can reach the people that do.
Thank you. 🙏

Hey voice acting side of Tumblr, I need some advice
Recently I've been picking it up as a hobby and got selected for a few auditions. Some I plan on auditioning for require singing, and I have tried to record my singing, but my high notes aren't being picked up
I use OBS to record, and have messed around with most of the filters I use. I tried adjusting my gain, my open threshold, my everything, really. I've tried leaning closer to the mic, I've tried leaning farther from the mic. It's a HyperX Quadcast
If y'all have any advice, I'd be so thankful if you could share it
