I’m not sure I’ve ever loved a bird as much as I love the one in this photo. And that’s saying a lot, because I have seen a lot of amazing birds in my life. It’s truthfully not that there is anything extraordinary about this bird or this photo. It’s the fact that this was taken during one of the worlds greatest migrations...the sandhill crane migration along the Platte River in Nebraska. There are something like 500k sandhill cranes that congregate here on their way north in the spring, before dispersing to so many different areas across North America. I was lucky enough to witness this migration for a few days recently. And that I captured this single crane against such a dreamy sky, all alone amidst the madness of a major migration...it takes my breath away just a little bit. I can relate to this crane..it can be so nice to soar on your own, among the clouds and away from the crowds, if only for a brief moment. Haven’t updated in a long time!

Life has been pretty crazy (in mostly good ways!) but I want to get back to being more active on here!

So just a quick update:

* I’m currently taking Intro to Environmental Engineering and Differential Equations

* I was chosen to be a part of the 2021 Florida National Audubon Society CLI Cohort program.

* I got a new job as a remote STEM tutor for kids k-12

* I’m currently running a supplemental study group for both of my classes!

This weekend I was invited to the Central Florida Audubon Assembly in Maitland, Fl and I’m so excited and nervous!! I’ve already met my mentor and we’ve discussed several projects that I will be working on and I can’t wait!! I’ll make sure to show you guys everything that happens during my trip. I’m just so excited for this opportunity!
