It's been pissin' down rain for a while which got me thinkin'....

Audrey Nathan. The cellist from Portland, OR. The gal that dated Phil Coulson for (according to the AoS wiki) quite a while....

It rains practically 9 months out of the year there. (Trust me. I know. 🫠) I can only imagine that if Coulson and Audrey went on a date or two, they definitely got caught in the rain. They'd be on a walk in a park, and the forecast said nothing about rain, but in true PNW fashion it starts raining... So they race back to the car in a fit of laughter... And if it could be helped, Coulson tries to pull the car around to the front of the restaurant to make sure she doesn't get too rained on bc he's Coulson. Of course he's a gentleman. 🫶🏻

But then he dies... And he comes back, but he can't see Audrey bc he's not supposed to be alive. He knows she mourned him. And he's sad he made her feel that way. He's sad that he died.

And on days in his office as director when he's cranking away on paperwork, it's raining and he can't help but put on a record of a certain cellist... Because the rain tapping on the windows reminds him of a certain someone from Portland, OR, the rainiest place he's ever been.*

*I'm not biased, I swear. 💀🫶🏻

so of Coulson exes shown of screen (camilla reyes, audrey nathan, and rosialind price) all had something to do with a crime like killing or stalking .

camilla reyes, who we met in season 1 when they were looking at an 804 in peru. she and her team tried to kill coulson and his team.

coulson and audrey nathan met when audrey’s ex was stalking her and coulson was assigned to protect her.

finally rosalind price was assassinated by ward.

i don’t know if this means anything but it was something i noticed

so i’m rewatching agents of shield and i’m on the episode with audrey nathan, and she talks about getting the call after coulson’s “death”. and i know that because he was such a good, respected and high up agent, it’s pretty likely that another agent, possibly maria or fury told her.

but what if it was pepper? or tony?

in avengers, there’s a brief scene at the beginning of the movie where you can see tony and pepper talking to coulson about a “cellist”. both of them were very happy for him. tony later even offers to fly him out to portland.

pepper and coulson had been shown to be on good terms since the first iron man movie. they were very good friends.

pepper has an absolute heart of gold, and she would definitely want for audrey to hear about what happened from a place of sincerity and not just someone who worked with coulson, but someone who also cared about him.

and then there’s tony. after his death, someone wonders if he was married. tony is the one to mention there being a cellist. now we all know tony; he loves his big gestures, especially for those he cares about (even if he won’t admit it). for example, the giant bunny he buys pepper in iron man 3 and literally creating time travel to bring peter back. even if he felt he shouldn’t have been the one to deliver the news, he definitely wouldn’t want an agent telling her. he would have encouraged pepper to contact her.

just a thought.
