“Of course they’re not showing up on film,” Kibum’s voice is staticy over the phone, but Minho can still tell how annoyed he is, “they’re ghosts, for god’s sake.”
“I know that, but...I don’t know. They’re just both so pretty, and...they don’t seem aggressive? One of them is playful, yeah, but...they don’t seem like they’d hurt anyone. Not on purpose.”
“Don’t get soft on me now - you're not the Ghost Whisperer, Choi. Your job isn’t to determine if they’re dangerous or not, that’s Jinki’s. You’re just-”
“I know what my job is, Kibum.” Minho sees a faint smudge of color out of the corner of his eye, and when he looks up, he can see one of the ghosts across the room. It doesn’t move, and neither does Minho, and the ghost allows Minho to reach over and pick up his camera with an unreadable expression on its face. Even though Minho already knows how the picture will turn out, he takes it anyway, carefully places the polaroid next to him. Kibum is still talking, but Minho tunes him out, instead watching the ghost as it watches him. He...kind of almost doesn’t want them to be exorcised anymore, wants to stay and watch them for...at least a while.
As if knowing what he’s thinking, a shy (or maybe coy, or maybe smug?) little smile flirts with the ghost’s lips, and it raises a hand in a fluttering wave before disappearing from Minho’s sight.
When Minho raises his hand to run through his hair, it’s trembling, but when he feels a chill of air brush over the back of his neck, he doesn’t feel scared. It feels more like the ghost that is definitely there is just...observing. Watching him like he’s watching them.
“I’m not scared of you. Either of you.” he calls out. He doesn’t know if either of the ghosts have heard him, but that doesn’t really matter. They all know that he’ll stay until he gets his job done, no matter what.
