hello love! sorry to bother, but if you don’t mind me asking, how do you do the thing like you did here (post/189768517422/day-1-day-2-finale) where you connect several images and have transparent dividers on them? i have always been curious on how to do that…

let me start by saying this might not be necessarily the proper way to do but it’s the way i do it and it seems to work so i just go along with it!

so to start, if you’re doing 3 images into 1 you need to crop them accordingly so they should be 177 x 178 x 177 (268 x 268 for 2 into 1). 

so my process goes: crop -> turn into smart object -> sharpen + color each individual picture (it can get tedious especially if you’re doing 30 pictures or so which was the case for the picture set i made 🤕)

once sharpened and colored, select all of the layers (adjustment and smart objects), right click and select merge visible 

then go to file -> new -> and create a 540 px canvas (height is whatever the height of your pictures is, i usually use 400 px)

now drag the previously merged picture onto the new canvas and repeat until you have all three pictures on the canvas. you can move and position them around as you like/wish! 

if the canvas background layer is plain white then i usually just delete it which turns it the canvas background transparent. however, that is also one of the reasons to not color AFTER you’ve put placed the pictures on the canvas because the coloring will impact the white/transparent background. there are ways around it but i’ve found that this process is easier! 

final picture should turn out something like this:

seulgi: 177 x 400

yeri: 178 x 400

irene: 177 x 400

background: transparent but u can maintain the white background (or change it to rlly any other color)

i use photoshop 2020. this tutorial is very very basic, so if you have any questions just ask!

kind of a long answer so it’s under the cut!

sO! i have a few different ways of making icons, it all depends on the type of icon style i have in mind. 

for icons like this:

i just take a picture and do my own coloring in photoshop! sometimes i sharpen it but i don’t really have any good actions for editing, so i tend to go without it! after that i always size it down, normally to about 300x300!

for icons like this:

i take a picture of an idol and use the polygonal lasso tool and trace it around them. once i do that i right click on the image and click layer via copy and then hide the original layer! then i make a coloring and add a background color. after that i size it down to 300x300
