the halls of the citadel were quiet, eerily so. for the last several months, they've been a bustle with noise and chatter ⸻ everyone so excited yet so nervous about the upcoming garden party. now, with the party on the horizon, the halls were still. all staff were either outside, making final preparations in the garden or in the kitchens, preparing the food or simply making sure everything was in order.
she stood in front of the stained glass window of the temple that lied within the citadel, the sunlight through it's colors staining her skin in shades of pink, lavender and yellow. she could see through the clear glass, just barely. her arms were crossed over her chest, holding close the lilac sash she nearly always had with her. even as she heard footsteps, the high priestess was unmoving. they were footsteps she knew, footsteps she could never erase from her memory for as long as immortal life cursed her on this plane of existence.
" should you not be helping your bride with the final preparations? " aurelia mused, her voice, flat and empty, echoing in the emptiness.
