I remember my first time driving in Canada people were concerned I would be confused by 'turning circles' and I'm like tf is a turning circle... Got to a four-way stop sign (as seen on Corner Gas but I thought was a joke, no they are real but I don't know why) and my entire existence was questioned. Is this a turning circle, I wondered, but it was not circular.
A week and two provinces later, I stopped at a T-junction.
There was a single bulb hanging from a wire at the intersection. Is this a turning circle, I questioned, but no answer was forthcoming. The bulb flashed red. Red means stop. I stopped. I waited. It continued to flash red. Eventually I decided to turn right (which is legal on a red light for some reason) and continued driving down deserted rural roads in a foreign country late at night.
As it turns out, turning circles are roundabouts, which I am very familiar with in Australia, except we go clockwise and they go counter clockwise and those were some hijinks.
