Hey! I hear they are different types of parents, what would an authoritative father and mother punish a teenager who has behaved badly (aka getting into a fight)
Authoritative parents also have rules that children are expected to follow, however, they allow some exceptions to the rule. They often tell children the reasons for the rules and they are more willing to consider a child’s feelings when setting limits.
Authoritative parents don’t tend to use punishment’s. They tend to use consequences. For example: If you don’t do the dishes now then you will have to do them in an hour when the baseball game is on.
Consequences for fighting might be: If you get into fights you will not be able to do (insert activity here).
