Thunderbolts* on a Road Trip!

chapter 1 is out!

Summary:

Spoiler for Thunderbolts*

Takes place post-Thunderbolts* movie but before the end credits scene.

Alexei has the perfect idea that the Thunderbolts* go on a road trip together. Now that they’re a team, it’s time they grow even closer and become the family they’re supposed to be.

Lots of bonding and some people (Walker) haven’t gotten the memo that they’re supposed to be a family and have developed a crush on one of the Team members.

Bucky has to babysit his new family for a whole weekend, with lots of jokes, fluff, angst and a little bit of the girls bullying Walker for having a crush (as if they were any better).

Ava looks up from her phone and reminds them; “You’re all idiots.”

Which ends with them all arguing over the crossword puzzle, and that’s the moment Alexei chooses to announce his idea.

Everyone looks up, all eyes on the Red Guardian. “And what would that be?” Walker asks, putting down the pen. “We are going on Road Trip!”

“Oh no,” Yelena murmurs to herself, which gets her a sharp side eye from Ava. “Road Trip?” Bucky repeats.

Alexei beams at his confused face and rounds the room to be standing in front of them. “We take the weekend off-“

“We always have the weekend off.” Walker frowns at him. “We have every day off, except when we get called to save the world.”

“Or to pose for stupid posters,” Ava complains, with a humourless laugh at the end. “But you look very good on the posters!”

“Bob,” Ava warns with a raised eyebrow.

“Even better! We can go, and if we’re needed, we turn back. No problem.” He sits down next to Yelena and puts his arm around her shoulder. “You remember when we were road tripping? It was fun! You had a great time, Lena.”

“Oh, I think it’s a nice idea. So y’all can get closer, and I have never been on a road trip. Is it nice, Yelena?”

“There are worse things,” she answers Bob, and gives him a small smile. “And you’re still part of the team, so you have to bond with us as well.”

“I’m not sure I want to bond with all of you.” He whispers, looking at Walker from the corner of his eye.

“Oh, come on, Bobs! We are a team.” He looks away, almost hurt, and doesn’t notice Bob looking at him for a few seconds too long. But Yelena notices it, interesting.

“Maybe I die of idioticness from being trapped in a van with you guys, so I’m in.” Yelena looks at Ava and sees the challenge in her eyes - oh, well.
