avasilevskiy replied to your post “guess tumblr muted me ♀️ so that’s fun”
i thought i was muted too but i think it was just my posts were out of order for some reason?? idk why but i went through some pages and it's all there but stuff i reblogged onto my dash today were on like page 3 rather than most recent so idk maybe that's the case for you too
yeah i just went to page 2 and everything is there in order.. but the first page.. is a mess. i don’t know what’s happening lol
Maybe this is how you let a dream go, he thinks: quietly and without fanfare. He touches the Cup and it feels simple. It's cool under his fingers, and he spreads his hand out across the metal, strokes up the base and runs a finger around the rim of the bowl, traces the stamped letters in the newest plate: Pittsburg Penguins 2013-14. His name might never be on it, but maybe that's okay. His life doesn't look like what he'd expected it to when he was eighteen, but he thinks most people's don't.
(Spoiler warning for I Fear No Fate)
I knew I was writing to this moment as the emotional crux when I started the story. It's maybe the… second? scene I wrote, the first being Claude and Sid disagreeing about when they'd had sex for the first time.
Part of what made it so painful to write Sid being in the NHL and having everything ripped away is that we know what happens to Sidney Crosby in over a decade playing, but Sid doesn't know and will never find out. And he's been carrying around the person he might have become for a very long time, until he doesn't even register the weight anymore.
I think the most important parts of stories revolve around choices, and this one comes down to: touch the Cup, even though Sid's superstition says he can't, or not touch it and still… not keep the dream alive, but keep looking backwards. Even though he's never going to play competitively again due to his injury, he could hold onto this for the rest of his life. It would eat him up inside, but he could do it. And instead he chooses to stop reaching for something that's already gone, and that's where Sid the Kid finally gets buried, on Flower's lawn by a table full of crumbs, and Sid can finally move on with his life.
More extras!
I restrained myself from sticking a comma between "Pittsburgh Penguins" and "2013-14" because it wouldn't have been accurate. I would have put it if I was the engraver, but no one asked me.
The Keeper of the Cup (an older man who keeps orange hard candies in the change compartment of his car) is around, but he decides to give Sid some time with the Cup alone. He goes to get the Cup's case instead of lurking around in the shadows, and trusts that Sid isn't going to go crazy and try and steal the Cup or throw it in someone's pool.
The only scene that took longer to finalize was the very last one with the Players' Tribune article.
Thanks for the ask! DVD commentary is open for eternity.

i need the balsamic glaze recipe please!
i found a recipe that is basically exactly what i do:
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic minced
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons honey
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, then coat with non-stick cooking spray.
In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over medium. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant and beginning to brown, about 2 minutes, watching carefully so that it does not burn. Add the balsamic vinegar, honey, mustard, salt and pepper. Whisk and simmer until the mixture thickens, about 4 minutes.
Place salmon skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush liberally with the glaze. Bake for 5 minutes, brush again with the glaze, then bake 5 to 10 additional minutes, until the fish flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through. Sprinkle with chopped parsley. (the recipe is for like 2 filets allegedly but i’ve done it for 4 before and it was enough)
avasilevskiy replied to your post “just an update as to why i’ve been MIA a bit here lately for those who...”
That sounds crazy intense, I’m sending good vibes your way! I definitely missed your presence on here but take your time and hockey will always be there! Good luck with the job and moving

calgary flames & nashville predators!
well this is something huh.. hahah
um so okay flames:
favorite would be.. like, ok.. beginning of the season i would have said james neal and not even given it a second thought.. but .. things have changed. i’m gonna go with noah.. because similar to neal, he was my favorite on his previous team as well.. but idk it’s like i’ve fallen and i really can’t get up this season regarding noah hanifin.
honorable mention: elias lindholm..
but they’re all the reasons i decided to come to the flames side of hockey.. so i’m gonna throw in a true flame for funsies and going with matthew tkachuk because duh.
least favorite.. mike smith 100% lmao he needs 27 chill pills.
preds:
as if i’d choose anyone but ryan hartman.. but we all know that. so a very close 2nd would be filip forsberg. big love for that dude.
least favorite: watson
