Things were starting to calm down, thankfully, since The Battle of New York. It helps that Steve and Tony seemed to have reached something of a truce. Though battle did bring people together, and Steve had to concede that Tony might be a little more selfless than he thought after watching the man fly a missile into a space wormhole to save the city. For the most part Steve set his focus on the recovery effort, rebuilding the city and strengthening his very green team. That included checking in with Baron’s recovery from Loki’s manipulation, which resulted in getting to know Dr. Selvig and a few of the people that surrounded him in his own recovery.
It’s hard to imagine that anyone meeting Darcy Lewis wouldn’t be drawn to her. She’s smart and funny and beautiful--not that that last one was important--and Steve always found a little smile on his face whenever he bumped into her on his trips in and out of the recovery unit. This time was no different, when he caught sight of her long, dark hair and picked up his pace just enough to easily catch up to her without drawing attention to himself. “Hey, there,” he says, looking down at her with a soft smile. “Long time, no see.” It’s only been a week, he reminds himself. “How’re you holding up?”
