My theory for the "two avatars" thing is Nisha is in a Yun situation where she's really good at all the earth element sub-bending that it looks like she can bend all four elements, but Pavi's the one who can do it all, probably badly.

Just imagine that there’s some kind of “room” where all the avatar past lives are “living” when they are not summoned. So, Korra has nothing to do, a lot of time alone with her thoughts, thinking and feeling horrible, constantly on the verge of darkness, trying to be strong for Pavi, until one day…

I’m sorry, but I lost my patience after colouring Korra, so Pavi and Aang look the way they look. Maybe the day will come where I want to colour them too (the day will not come).
