OC Asks: Oh my god, am I allowed to ask 1-50?! 5, 14, 17, 24, 28, 32, 39. This is the very least I can handle! xD
5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, whowould it be?
Probably Jen. By far she’s the character that I’ve put themost love and effort into over the years, with the greatest number ofcharacter-building story arcs and massive amounts of personal growth no matterwhich alternate universe and story she finds herself in. In one of my favoriteRPs with her, she has a lovely monologue just before she kicks someone out of atower window that I occasionally repeat to myself when I need to feel betterabout life.
14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory. (This is goingto be a long one.)
Jennifer “Jen” Conley, a young woman who never hasand never will grow out of her punk/goth phase and will never stop dying herhair variations of purple. Her mother died of a stroke when she was six, andthus she grew up in Tennessee with just her abusive father, whose treatment ofher only worsened the older she got. Once he started sexually abusing her aswell as verbally and physically, she ran at the age of 16.
Broke, underage, and with poor education concerning lifechoices, she fell in and out of bad company and addictions until, at the age of22, she was found by a priest by the name of Alexander. Who, by all counts, should have been excommunicated decades ago for drinking and swearing like astereotypically true Scot. He gave her a place to stay, encouraged her to kickthe addictions (the illegal ones, at least), and helped her find a job - takingthe role of the father figure she’d really needed from the start. From thereher life generally takes a turn for the much better, and while it’s neverperfect, she is usually happy with it.
So many! The top ones would definitely be Jen and holyflamingo’s Hal, who, as she mentioned when asked this, comes from asimilar background with similar life problems. They’re really good friends fromthe start, are constantly helping each other through things (because hey, noone like someone who’s been exactly there to give you a boost), and are reallytruly in love.
My other top OTP is a poly mess of my Jason and Naomi andFlamingo’s Cyrus and Darcie. There’s a lot of it’s complicated involved but itcomes down to Naomi and Cyrus being married, Cyrus and Jason being pretty muchin love forever, Jason and Naomi getting along really well and enjoying eachother’s company, and Jason and Darcie being in an excellent D/s relationship.Cyrus and Darcie want nothing to do with each other, however. Poly ships makeme happy.
24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be andwhy?
One Jason Driess, the man who would be your perfect whitemale protagonist if he wasn’t so good at fucking everything up and had a worsesense of humor and self. He’s a sweet guy, very self-aware, a complete nerd, athletic, and okay I might have made him into the perfect (realisticallyflawed) man. Sue me.
28. Your most dangerous OC?
Dear lord in heaven, Gin. Gin unto the ends of the Earth. This man is dangerous and thinking about him gives me shivers and makes me feela little ill for how freaking EVIL he is. He’s cold, absolutely sadistic, andtakes far too much joy out of actual torture. He has motivations but doesn’tuse them to try to justify himself beyond saying that pain is his passion.
32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horrorgame protagonist and why?
Oooh this is a tough one. Jen would do very well in anyhorror game - her whole story is about survival and overcoming horrors, especially if she can take a crowbar to the monster’s face. By far one of mymost agile characters, so stealth horror would suit her best.
For a survival horror game however, to the tune of Amnesia,I’d have to vote for Naomi. She’s smart, well-read, and resourceful but notphysically powerful by any means. Throwing rocks and hiding in small spaceswhile desperately hoping the monster just GOES AWAY is very much her style.
In a horror game where you get a gun, such as Dead Space,Dmitri would be my choice. Russian mercenary/sniper, usually with mechanicalaugmentations and a terrible, dry sense of humor. I’d love to see him in ahorror game alternately swearing in Russian and laughing hysterically.
39. Introduce any character you want.
Alrighty then, meet Lucian Vaughn. British, black, filthyrich, and thoroughly unamused by your antics. In any given AU he quietly pulls the stringsbehind the scenes, controlling large corporations, running a very fancy andexclusive gentlemen’s club, or funding whatever shenanigans the story’sprotagonists are up to. Discreetly of course. He likes to remain as aloof aspossible at all times, even when he’s giving orphans a place to live andvarious other unfortunates jobs wherever he has places for them. It’s just business,of course. He doesn’t actually care. What are you talking about.
