Alex and Linda Shenanigans
Rachel and Eric were trying to sleep after the terrible night they had with the twins. Who knew taking care of twins would be so hard. Those commercials and movies had nothing on these two little monsters. When one cried the other was silent and then when that one was quiet the other one started and sometimes they both cried at the same time. It was a never ending cycle of crying. They both loved their babies but sometimes they just wanted to sleep and eat.
They both had just lain down in bed and were getting comfortable when it happened. Two loud cries are heard in the middle of the day. Rachel groans into her pillow. “Eric go get them please.”
“No it’s your turn,” he huffs turning on his side.
“Eric I just gave birth to twins a few months ago. I am sore and still hurting and my period came back full force today do not mess with me right now,” she growls out glaring at him.
“Fine…” he yawns and gets out of the bed to check on the two babies as his eyes widen, “uh Rach you need to come here now. Something weird is going on.”
She gets angrily out of the bed, “Can’t even take care of…oh my god,” she covers her mouth looking at her babies. One has frost forming on the crib and the other one is disappearing before her eyes.
She rushes over to the disappearing baby and picks him up, “Alex shhh it’s ok sweetie…you’re turning invisible baby please stop,” she begins to rock Alex and try to calm him down.
“Eric calm down Linda,” he goes over and tries to pick her up but his hands get too cold. Rachel sighs and hands over Alex to him.
“Where’s his face I only see his butt,” he asks worried.
“He’s there Eric,” she picks up Linda and turns the heat on her hand so they don’t get cold, “Just calm him down he was getting more visible when he calmed down.”
Linda laughs and tries to freeze Rachel’s nose. Instead she forms a small ice cube on Rachel’s nose. Rachel scrunches her face and heats the ice off her nose as Linda giggles when the ice falls off. “Aw is mommy being silly, yes she is.”
Eric is rocking Alex calming him down. Alex begins to stop crying and his face begins to appear first. “You are like the Cheshire cat aren’t you buddy.” Alex giggle and waves his fist.
Rachel begins to make funny face at Linda who giggles. Rachel sighs and looks at Eric. “I’m sorry Eric I thought they would be normal.”
He bounces Alex in his arms making him laugh, “honey they’re fine they just got a little bit more of their mother in them.” He scrunches his eyebrows, “how are we going to take care of these two super babies.”
She smiles and kisses him on the nose rocking Linda, “the same way we took care of them before silly.”
Linda sneezes and freezes the wall giggling. Rachel laughs and looks back at Eric, “and a lot of redecorating it appears. Wow Linda you’re a master at this aren’t you little girl,” she rubs her nose against Linda’s. Alex laughs and disappears in Eric’s arms completely invisible. Eric begins to panic until he feels Alex in his arms. “Hey buddy come back little guy,” he begins to rock Alex’s invisible body until he is back slightly more visible. Alex just giggles at him.
“Eric let’s take them to our bed for now,” she says cooing Linda as she goes back to their bed.
Eric sighs wanting to scratch the back of his head but not wanting to set his son down encase he disappears again. He sets Alex in the center of the bed with Linda and curls around them the same way Rachel has curled around them.
“Rach what are we going to do? Alex disappears when he is angry or scared. How are we going to stop that?”
“You can’t Eric…we’ll just try to teach them control. I have a good control over my powers but I mess up. You know that.”
“Yeah you get pissed off you really have sparks fly,” he teases.
She pokes him in the chest, “Eric I’m being serious.” She rubs Linda’s tummy trying to calm her down.
“We have to send them to a special school but with everything happening today with the mutants. It’s going to be tough and scary. I don’t want them taken away Eric,” she says getting upset.
He rubs his hand up and down her arm, “they won’t get taken away. You’re too good of a mom to let that happen. Plus being able to do the whole fire thing might scare people enough to back off.” Alex giggles as he makes his foot disappear.
“Look at that happy or sad he disappears,” said Eric worried.
“Eric we can’t do anything right now…they’re too young. As soon as they’re old enough maybe two or three I’ll start helping them train their power. Kara also might know how to help.”
“Rach I don’t want our kids to become fighters like her…”
“Eric you better shut that mouth right now. That’s my other daughter. I’ll explain it to her. She might be able to help or do some crazy ward thing to protect them.”
He sighs, “fine…I’m just worried.”
“And you don’t think I am,” she asks.
She frowns and plays with Linda as she giggles, “we’ll just have to do our best.”
He sighs and rubs the back of his neck and looks at her, “but what if I lose Alex? He’s the invisible man or baby…whatever he turns invisible.”
“We will just update the room and add some security and be extra careful. I’m more worried about a temper tantrum. They might accidently hurts us when they get mad but we have to be firm and tell them no otherwise it will be worse when they get older.”
Both of the babies had fallen asleep listening to their parents. Rachel and Eric relax hearing the quiet and lay their heads on their pillow before a one of them begins to cry.
“Oh man now what they’re in our bed,” he frowns checking Alex, “he doesn’t need a diaper change…”
“Maybe they’re hungry? It is close to when they are supposed to get fed,” she sighs and starts to undo her shirt so they can both nurse. She sits up in the bed holding each of them in her hands. “This is going to build my arms up fast,” she smiles then frowns as Eric begins to laugh.
“Alright monkey brain what’s so funny,” she asks not in the mood for his shenanigans.
He just points at her chest. She looks down and chuckles, “really Alex you had to disappear and make it look like I’m holding onto air. Ow ow hey cold Linda. Eric distract her.”
He rubs Linda’s back as she begins to stop freezing her mom. Linda pulls away and fuses. Eric takes her from Rachel and begins to pat her on the back so she can burp. She lets out a loud burp and giggles. Rachel smiles and burps Alex when he is done nursing.
“Rach what do you think about cameras in their bedroom? We can see what happens and help them later.”
She nods her head, “I think temporary cameras for now until they are maybe four or five and know not to use their powers. They’ll still have accidents but it should be nicer for them when they get older, not having to worry about cameras all the time.”
He sigh and gets up taking Linda back to her crib to sleep. Rachel follows him with Alex and lays him down.
“I guess I should go to the hardware store tomorrow then. Sleep?”
She nods her head, “yes sleep now, work later.” She holds his hand as they go back to the bed and pass out for however long the babies will be quiet.
