Where did he come from? where has this bird apparently been for 30 years?
These questions have yet been answered to the press, but everyone is in an uproar about this new-old bird!

preening with pretty much most bird species (as well as feeding each other) is essentially the human equivalent of cuddling/kissing/hugging because it shows a strong trust and bond connection with each bird :>

Ford Pines Is here and under constant stress!
He is a Ferruginous Hawk (as well as the rest of the Pines family--kind of). While these hawks typically prefer an open prairie, Ford found more comfort the woods of Organ and thought it better for research.
On Fords right wing lays a large scar along the wing that he got early in the portal. This scar has heavily altered how he can fly; he's able to fly normally but only for a short time. Most of the time he's either walking or gliding maneuvers (similar to how a chicken would fly). When he does need to fly for a long period of time, he'll do it with a struggle because the tendons and muscles are weaker (also age affects it more too). He also has other scars, but most are covered by feathers.
He also has an identifying ring on his leg that he got from the Time Police; so far, he's been unsuccessful at taking it off, but has managed too partially damage it's TGPS (time/dimensional GPS).
During his time with Bill, some of his feathers and beak were changed over time. the most noticeable features being the triangle on his chest feathers and the eyes on his wings and body. There is also the tattoo that is written in Bills language that is somehow clearly visible despite the scar. His beak also has pronounced "teeth" on the sides, almost resembling Bills beak.
In this Au they do have the ability to make items such as pieces of clothing, objects, binded books, and even glasses. Humans do exist in this AU, however, they aren't as widespread as usual and tend to be in there 'own little world' so to speak... meaning they kind of live in greenhouse like cities (the humans essentially blocked off the natural world from themselves). Throughout the world of this AU you'll see signs of human life like roads, abandoned houses, random items, etc. but never really explicitly humans.

as well in here is bird Pyramid Steve and the final form of Bill, b/c he is still an extraterrestrial entity. However, I might change the design later on when I draw the full body shot.
In this AU bill for the most part is the around the height of a Crested Shrike-tit but it changes over time little by little.
when bill does turn into his final form, it's very painful for him because of the rapid growth and change since it's his physical form. turning a bird's body into something that shouldn't be done is very taxing on the body and causes Bill to go into a sort-of temporary dormant sate before, well, the forest goes into chaos.
During Fords younger periods before he found out Bills true intentions and meanings, he thought that Bill was down right one of the most interesting 'birds' he'd ever seen; but that was also because of Bill also being a literal triangle.... Bill would take his Bird form often, especially around Ford because he (and Ford) thought it would be easier to further communication.

actually, featuring the designs for Mable and Dipper (as well as waddles)
Mable + Dipper are red tail hawks which are closely related to ferruginous hawks (but I really just made them into a combo of both species; they just have more visible red tail traits)
I made Waddles a rat in this AU; because pig/hogs don't necessarily exist anymore in this AU (I mean the people that are left still have them) + also because like pigs' w/ people; rats are preyed upon by many bird species.... Waddles is just a very large rat species that appeared

Stans design and look is just about the same as Fords (of course) with only some minor differences! he has a plumper build when compared to Ford's 'skinnier' appearance because of the years holding up the shack as well as old man age; he also has a lot more gray feathers compared to Ford because he's had significant stress [enough to kill at least 3 birds] early in life causing him to gray early. The plumage around his back and neck are a little simpler in pattern than Fords, but the rest is the same as Fords. Also, on the 'belly' of Stan there is a patch of thinner feathers (more akin to downy feathers/ peach fuzz) that appeared due to him pulling feathers after finding out that Mabel and Dipper were arriving (it's similar to when a hen pulls feathers to expose its skin in order to provide body heat and protection). The flat patch on the back of his neck as also due to some violent encounters with others, it's never been able to grow back normally since.
Stan has had to live a harsh life before he made to Fords home (the Giant hollowed out, but somehow living, Coast-Douglas Fir tree); he's not only had to survive the predators as he traveled across country but has had multiple unfortunate encounters with the Illegal bird trade and local poachers. The encounters have caused his wings to sag down when in resting position because the muscle and tendons aren't as strong as before; he's still capable of flight just not as well because it'll cause pain from the strain. On his right foot he has two missing toes from an attack from a southern bird mob that Stan had a bad relationship with.
Stan never really likes to mention his prosthetic beak, if someone does mention or ask about it, he'll either downright ignore the question or get defensive. When he lost his upper beak, he thought he was dead, but by some miracle he was saved by (he can't exactly remember) and equipped with a metal beak. It took him a long while to get used to the new beak and not feel ashamed or weak from losing his original one and needing the metal beak. Even during his younger years as a chick-juvenile his beak was somewhat weaker than Ford's; because of this Stans beak had a large chip in it from defending Ford from some mob birds (bully birds).
The design of the Shake is not finale yet, but imaged above is the first concept of it. It's a coast-Douglas fir tree, the largest species in Oregon; it can grow up to 327 ft. However, the Mystery Tree only (currently) sits at 268 ft. while the width of the tree is substantial when compared to other trees. Its width has an insane 25 ft diameter throughout the whole tree; the tree is hollowed out, even up to the top but it's somehow still alive and thriving; it's somehow also seemingly way bigger in the inside than the outside. It's impossible scientifically but magically????? It just might be :>
