My latest artwork as of September 18th, this over the top dramatic portrait of Ringo Rango with hints of his dry sense of humor represents my first art where the character is the centerpiece of the composition.
The idea of making a portrait came while drawing Pinecone Cola's face in the previous artwork, and the pose is inspired by the cover of Tapani Kansa's "20 suosikkia - Päättyneet on päivät" compilation album.

(Previous post) And this was what I came up with. It depicts Pinecone Cola waiting at a bus stop all alone after outgrowing their child. The time has come for them to move on to hopefully get adopted by another family in the future.
The bittersweet feeling is enhanced by the turbulent sky, but there is a sliver of hope for the future at the end of the road.
The drawback for this piece was the perhaps overly cryptic title I used, "The Orphaned friend", which could have left the story behind the scene vague for many.

After taking a short break from drawing to speculate Pokey Toehair's possible interests, the vivid image of him overlooking a valley inspired by northern Finnish scenery appeared in my head. I thought that was the perfect scene to turn into my next artwork, and judging by the finished result, I wasn't wrong.
The reactions I got after first posting this were so overwhelmingly positive that I felt pressured into making a continuation for this piece. Since this differs both in style and theme from the drawing of the Vyborg castle, my approach would be to carefully create another similar piece but with a different theme.

This is what I'd consider one of my breakthrough works in the technical sense. I find the Vyborg castle truly stunning, so I decided to make that the subject of my next artwork.
From the beginning, I wanted to make this piece specifically of the castle without anything pulling attention away from it. Another driving factor behind this piece was the will to improve my perspective and architectural drawing skills. I studied (if you can call looking at Street View imagery for five minutes and taking notes of the angles "studying") proper angles and perspective tricks to use for this scene.
The result was a vastly better implementation of the 2-point perspective than I had ever done before. Combine that with the soft colors and further improved shading and it was no wonder I was eager to share this. This was also the first art I publicly shared with other people.

The idea I had in my mind coming into this drawing was that of Bloo ordering at a very quaint and ordinary Finnish grill kiosk with some comedic dialogue attached.
Obviously, that didn't happen – I was instead left with an underwhelming building with a wonky perspective and I had to abandon the Bloo idea.
Nevertheless, I was once again positively surprised with the result. The soft shading and overall improved atmosphere gave me confidence that I could draw consistently and that the Pielavesi art wasn't just a fluke.
The Alagrilli (Lower Grill) branding is a reference to the former Alagrilli grill kiosk in Lamminpää, Tampere. The grill kiosk appeared in the cover of Mikko Alatalo's album "Kaikilla mausteilla".

My second attempt was already a huge improvement over the autumn scene. This one depicts a typical Finnish road scene in Pielavesi, although this location in specific is entirely fictional.
Initially I was very impressed with the perspective and the road, which I still think are well done.
When this piece was still being finished, I got ambitious ideas for future projects, which would blend my local Finnish scenery with my favorite show, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. This idea would manifest in the works produced shortly after this piece.

My very first attempt at art as well as my first digital drawing, this scene portrays a basic field in late autumn with an overcast sky. In the beginning I didn't yet know how to create art, so I began by making brush strokes and seeing where it led me.
Eventually, after about twenty minutes and some fine tuning, I got this. It lacks perspective and any meaningful content, but it was a start.
