Travel sketch journal #12: on the plane to Hawaii.
Tazo Awake Tea
A friend of mine gave me a cigar box of assorted teas for my birthday last year, and there was a bag of Awake in the mix! I was especially excited since Tazo is a favorite brand. After brewing that bag, I had to run out to the store and buy another box since it was so delicious!
Tazo's Awake Tea is a rich, strong black tea. In fact, I have a strong feeling that it's been named Awake because of its intensity. A cup of Awake Tea certainly packs a good punch! It has a dark, rich flavor and its brew time is minimal. The first sips are a bit sharp, but it soon softens out as the tastebuds adjust.
A good thing to note about this tea is that since it's so strong and has such a short brew time, it can easily brew two - to three (depending on how strong you like your tea!) - cups.
Since it is a stronger tea, I prefer to add a little stevia and sometimes a squirt of lemon. I rarely add milk or cream to my tea, but I'm sure that would lovely as well! Even if you choose to drink it plain, it still makes a delightful way to wake up on a sleepy morning or warm up in a cold afternoon!

The Hunt For a More Maroon October
I saw a fly today. I grabbed it but did not kill it. IT rested in my hand and said to me, "This is your calling." At first I looked at the mythical bug with hatred. "What is this bug even talking about?" I said to myself out loud. The lady next to me look at me confused and then more of a "I feel sorry for you" look. Mind your business lady! Jeez! As the bug just sat there, I licked it. I don't know why. It looked back at me much angrier this time. "What the FUCK did you do that for?" The bug flew away and I never saw it again. I wouldn't say we were in love because we only knew each other for a brief time, but there was something special.
These days I find myself trying to catch any fly I see. I don't know if I want that specific fly back or to finally feel the way I felt that day. Maybe the bug was right. That moment was my destiny, and I blew it with one harmless little lick. He tasted like Fruit Loops. Damn.
