would these costs be similar everywhere? And do they factor in the cost of utility connections/road work etc etc? I know super high-rise apartments aren’t real feasible in certain cities because foundation work becomes hugely expensive, for example.
I'm honestly not sure how much the costs vary by location. But I'm pretty sure that the largest variation between cities is the labour cost (as opposed to, say, cement or marketing or development applications) and that's a big chunk of the total supply cost at every density level.
They almost certainly don't factor in the cost of utilities and road work. This is a totally valid point. These costs are largely borne by tax revenues in most cities, but that's probably not the best use of funds. Interested to see how things go with Calgary charging steep connection fees for new developments on the edges of town.
