Well @onibony and I both agreed that Ayume and Jetsam would love going to a cat café together! It’s a very cute outing!

Jetsam isn’t smoking this time because he’s actually at ease!

Seeing @onibony ‘s royal design for Ayume inspired me and this little royal au got away from me 😭

I tried to keep Jetsam’s palette monochromatic to fit with Ayume’s!

So my idea is that Ayume and Jetsam are royal figures in their respective kingdoms, and the two have an allegiance following Ayume reaching out to Jetsam.

Jetsam is the prince of a cursed land that is forever shrouded in layers of thick smoke. The plants are gray and wilted + the natural water turns into thick tars and oils. All creatures that enter the kingdom need to wear special masks to keep the curse from affecting them. Members of the royal family were cursed along with the kingdom, so they can thrive within the bleak environment.

 Black magic flows within the territory though, so those who can brave the harsh climate can open themselves up to dark powers they couldn’t have elsewhere. Jetsam has a little staff that helps him channel his kingdom’s magic into spells.

Jetsam had grown to accept the isolation that came with ruling over such a destitute kingdom , with only his family and members of the court to talk with. But then a letter and gift came in the mail from the neighboring prosperous kingdom, and his world opened up a little more.

He’s not sure why the Candy Princess and he get along so well, but he is eternally grateful for the bond.
