“A-Azami, you’re a grandmother?!” “Mm? What? What’s so strange about that?” Strange? At the very, very most, Azami looked to be around twenty. Not at all old enough for anyone to call her “Granny.” All this talk about creating worlds and existing in spirit form was so astounding, it made me all the readier to believe it—but a grandmother? With those looks? …Ugh. This isn’t working. My imagination’s going wild on me. It’s making me lose my suspension of disbelief! “I told you!” Azami suddenly erupted into laughter. “I’m not a human being! I don’t age like you, and my external appearance never changes.” She paused to wipe a tear from the outside edge of her eye. “I tell you, I never thought the day would come when I’d speak to another human being like him. You are so entertaining.”
