This week I #graduated from my #BachelorOfNursing #Degree at #university with my 3 biggest supporters by my side...it's impossible for me to describe how much my heart was bursting in that moment... In case you don't know my story here's a rundown: Married my childhood sweetheart at 19, we decided to have kids while we were young & I would be a stay at home mum until they were older & established in school but "when I grow up I'll be a paeds nurse"...fast forward 18 years and after some serious bouts of depression, losing myself in my commitment to my family, having my own successful photography business & finding that my passion was, is & always has been for helping others...I was challenged to sit the STAT test, follow my dreams & get my degree...I sat the test expecting nothing, ticked all the boxes to enrol in full time uni & honestly thought it was never to be. I not only got in, but I was invited to 2 honours societies and am a member gold the #GoldenKeySociety for those in the top 15% of their degree. I maintained a #GPA of 6.8 out of 7 and HD average for most of it & finished at 6.58. I travelled to #China with the #StudyAbroad program and represented both my uni & my country. I was accepted to travel to Indonesia for a second trip but couldn't make it because of placement. I was a peer mentor & was part of the first ever #MassCasualtyTraining program with 3 disciplines (Paramedic students, Med students & Nursing students), I was blessed with incredible placements & in South Australia nursing is a very competitive field & only 5% of graduates achieve positions at the end of their studies...I applied for 1 of 2 positions in the country - AND I GOT ONE! I have zero regrets about waiting 18years and putting my family first & foremost in my life...I have 3 amazing kids who are well loved by all who meet them & I believe they are going to change the world with their passions & their their amazing hearts...I love more than anything that they are all chasing their dreams & succeeding in ways I never imagined & that they are kind hearted, generous spirited & incredibly talented...I had amazing people around me for the journey & I am so grateful for everything x
