now, that’s very simple, i guess that’s what week looks like approximately for most people of the former USSR, and this is why (some countries must have dropped the format, ours hasn’t, to my knowledge):

we had these slim books for a school year that were called literally “school diary” and were an approximate equivalent of report cards. you would fill part of it yourself, in blue/black ink: you had your classes in the first column from the left, your homework and occasionally teacher’s notes in the second column, your grade for the day for each class in the third and the teacher’s signature in the fourth. at the bottom of the right page there are lines for your homeroom teacher’s signature at the end of the week and for your parents’ signature that your homeroom teacher would see on Monday. you see this thing every day for 10-11 years, no wonder it’s singed into your brain for the rest of your life
