If I’m honest, I’m weary. I don’t just love Christmas—I NEED Christmas. Even though it will be really different this year and not what this mama hearts longs for, I am reminded that Jesus came for more than just to make me feel better or to make all my dreams come true. HE CAME. He came to reveal truth and conquer sin and bring salvation. More than happiness, His arrival brought true, deep, abiding joy. Joy that delights in His presence—despite the circumstance. Hope that is more than a wish for something temporary—an eternal hope that gives us a heavenly perspective. The struggle is real, BUT GOD continues to reveal Himself, His purpose, and His ways. While “this too shall pass” seems like a flippant response to a difficult time, God’s word tells us, “... endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. Pretty profound for a kid movie. Our thoughts can be pulled in a thousand different directions—that’s why it is is so important to guard what goes into our minds—and to cultivate a heart of faith. Faith doesn’t always make sense (think Noah, Moses, Elijah...) and God is more concerned with the integrity of our heart. When my heart is right before God, it changes how I think. Even about things I don’t like.
