so y'all remember the sweet little bunbun in her adorable little sweater?
if you enjoyed this delightful little princess please watch my sibling's video about the health struggles she has faced as a result of backyard breeding, even if you already know the dangers any extra views and reblogs will help spread awareness ♥️
This video is a message of awareness so people understand the consequences to breeding rabbits without doing the proper research or giving p
everything that happened to this rabbit could have been avoided if people knew the dangers and risks of backyard breeding, everything that happened to her was entirely avoidable
Backyard Breeding: What it Is and Isn’t
TL;DR At the End
I’ve seen a lot of videos on TikTok of owners showing off their dog that is pregnant/had puppies. The sheer number of times a popular video has been flooded with “Backyard Breeding” comments is so fucking annoying. These people don’t realize there’s not only accidental pregnancies but also clearly don’t know what Backyard Breeding actually is.
By definition: “ Backyard breeding is the practice of mating dogs with very little planning, preparation, and care for the future progenies. Backyard breeders are often considered unethical dog breeders with profit-obsessed motivations.” Source. “ A backyard breeder is an amateur animal breeder whose breeding is considered substandard, with little or misguided effort towards ethical, selective breeding. “ Source.
Basically, backyard breeding is intentionally breeding your pet(s) specifically for profit without a license. To further this definition, you need a license to breed three or more litters a year.
The way these people on TikTok are reacting is treating every dog that has puppies as a victim of a backyard breeding ring. Which is clearly pretty excessive because most of these people just happen to have two dogs that aren’t fixed (or they adopted one they were told was fixed but wasn’t) and they happen to end up with puppies. There are also some owners that adopt dogs from kennels/adoption agencies that were pregnant upon adoption but weren’t showing it.
All in all, though, I’ve seen a lot of stupid people think they know what is going on in the lives of dog owners and especially dog trainers. Off topic, people got mad at a trainer teaching her dog to not be food aggressive. What? Anyway.
TL;DR
What it is: breeding without a license for profit
What it isn’t: owning a dog that gets pregnant and has puppies.
Deadass just saw a lady who bread two albino dobermans tell someone who told her albinos have health complications to go fuck themselves.
Fuck backyard breeders
Today I looked down at my heart dog, and for the first time, I saw she’s growing old. Little white hairs decorate her merled face, her eyes no longer look as bright as they used to, her once sharp,...
I was going to post something training or behavior related for April’s blog post, but in a fit of emotion one night, I sat down and wrote this instead. In case anyone was wondering just what I’ve been through (and continue to go through) with Faith, here’s the full story.
I was watching videos about “Hulk’s” “breeder”.You know, because I hate myself and want to be more unhappy. But doesn’t that middle white puppy look blind? The idiot can’t figure out what kind of dogs he has, how to train the basics, manage his money, or even produce craigslist quality BBM’s.
Just saw a post about cropping dog ears, so here are two other dog breeding practices that I think people should be more aware of. All these are abuse btw and do absolutely indicate backyard breeders. Also, I have experience with rough collies, so please correct me if I make mistakes and if something I say is only applicable to collies.
Number one: breeding two merled dogs together. The merled gene is an overlay, not a coat color. This means it’s a gene that goes on top of a regular color that makes the color look different. This is natural by itself and many dog breeds have this. Many people also think it looks prettier, and will go out of their way to buy merled dogs. This means that many breeders will breed two merled dogs together, to get more merled dogs. What’s abusive about this is that if a puppy happened to inherit the two merled genes, it will cause severe damage to the dog’s eyes and ears. Any good breeder knows this, so breeding two merles together anyway is abuse. This does NOT mean that any breeder that has merled puppies is abusive, but if both parents are merled, it is abuse. The picture below is of a merled collie btw (blue merle).
Number two: not doing genetic testing. Breeding dogs without knowing or considering what can be passed down to the puppies is abuse, and an unethical business practice. Unlike number one, buying from a breeder that doesn’t do genetic testing means that you can end up with an aggressive, sick, or severely impaired dog. This is also a good way to tell if you are buying from a puppy mill or not!
will you breed to any grade mare? "Yes of course. It's better to go to a stud that's already been fully tested. It's more responsible." Fuck offfffffffff
