😭😭😭😭 there was a monarch butterfly fluttering about when I was out watering and it kept coming back. It LOVES the Mexican Sunflowers (Timothias) we have. Like it would have some, fly away, dive bomb back, have some, and repeat sgdggddggd Coming back to the same flowers sometimes like baby just drink it all at once! I mean I know they're prey insects and they don't stay in one place for too long to not get eaten, but come on have your little sips! Chug that nectar babyy!
I tried to get pictures on my phone but I can't see when I'm outside taking pictures on my phone sometimes bc the sun. So I'll check em out later sgdgdggd I should get my actual camera and take good pictures but I'm sore today
Anyway! It was very pretty and was a true monarch butterfly (white spots on the body) 🥰🥰🥰
Put the 6ft stakes in the cucumber plants. It's time 😎
Pruned the fucking massive already, tomato plants and a bit of the cucumber plants. Planted some marigolds and morning glories. And sweated my ass off. It's gone. All of it. It liquified sgdggdgdgdgd
But really the garden is looking so nice already it's making me so so happy
I just saw a pair of male cardinals together 😭❤️ the first time I was like oh maybe they're just chilling together. But I'm in the backyard watching birds and they came back and they always leave TOGETHER and sit TOGETHER.
And then I saw a male/female pair shortly after! AND A BLUEJAY ❤️
And when I went out for the second time today I saw a yellow swallowtail butterfly and it was zig zagging and dancing about the whole backyard. It was kinda magical but also hilarious bc it kept coming back 😅 like oh hello!
And I saw TWO monarchs on my way home!
And saw a little cabbage moth eating my cabbage, but that's okay bc I like seeing them and treat them like butterflies (which just means I say "hi butterfly" to em too sgdgdgdgdg I know they're different)
It really made my day bc I love love love butterflies and I see them as a sign of hope. I see them as a sign that everything will be okay. 🦋
Oh of the seedling that got knocked down in the storm, it was only like one 4 pack of sunflowers. I have more seeds for those so I might just plop em in a pot that's on the patio and make em "dwarf" sunflowers.
Really happy that the rest didn't get knocked over 😮💨 whew
Planted all the seeds (well that we planned to plant, there's still miscellaneous packs of semi filled seed packets) aaaaand ofc as soon as we get in it starts storming ahdhdhdhdhd
Like SUPER windy (rip everything we just planted. I tried to keep you on the table with bricks and rocks... idk if the ones on the bench seats will survive :(
Stupid us I guess bc I knew it was forecasted to rain today... just assumed the storm would pass us like the last several had 😔
Oh well whatever survives survives I guess
Mom and I gardened today. Everything is all planted, but the seeds. Those we'll do another day. When we plant seed it's more of a "let's see what happens" rather than that being our main supply if that makes sense. That's why we plant em in June rather than starting em indoors like normal people do sgdvdvdv we wait til it's warm enough outside and then leave em. Usually turns out well.
Anyway it was a nice distraction. I got a HUGE blister on my hand that already popped/peeled 😖 fucking hurts.
Our soil is VERY hard and a lot of it is clay actually. What's funny is we divide the side garden where we each get one side of the garden split by the walkway. Mom's side, the soil was really soft and easy to dig in. Meanwhile my side, the longer side, is like 90% clay 😭
The flowers look really nice though, gonna spread marigold seeds over em later. So they'll probably be overtaken by 3ft marigolds like last year whegdgdg which is still hilarious to me like why were they so tall?
2/3 of the cucumbers are chilling on the chairs in their pots for now bc they're where the tomatoes were last year. One is on the ground in a slightly smaller pot so we'll see ab that if it makes a difference. When they get really big as they usually do, I'll move em probably sggdgdgd
Tomato plant is on a chair too.
Pepper is on the ground for now, but I might put it on the end table tomorrow to keep crawly bugs away (at least make it harder to get to).
Parsley is planted and out on the table bc it wants part shade 🤙
Having waves of being okay and waves of being super depressed. Unfortunately normal pattern for grief.
Thank you all for the support btw ❤💙❤💙 much love
