Lore #3 - The High Holy KitchenAid

Asmodeus and Samael aren't just Aziraphale and Crowley in reverse.

More like, I took a big metaphorical blender, put Aziraphale and Crowley in it, and then distilled the resulting amalgamation into Asmodeus and Samael.

Asmodeus is mostly a demonic version of Aziraphale, but with some of Crowley's traits. Mainly the cynicism. Samael is mostly an angelic version of Crowley, with some of Aziraphale's traits. Mostly the silliness.

he scrubs the dirt and stains off them.

i've always had in mind that he still carries aziraphale's "heaven is the side of good" mentality. he thinks he fell because he deserved it, he wasn't good enough, and his self-esteem is really low.

he idolises aziraphale as a younger/better version of himself. if he could become an angel again, he probably would.

restored. dirt and sins scrubbed off.

really, i just wanted a profession that was "deals with antique collector's items but hides behind the facade of not actually *owning* them". plus, hell = messy, earth residence = sparse, like crowley's flat.

Lore #2 - Interior

Given that Heaven is the widest of open spaces, and thus Aziraphale's bookshop is full of his beloved bibliophilic hoard, Samael's flat is chock-full of beloved houseplants, paintings in bright colours (some he did himself), gossamer curtains, records and cassettes and CDs, a ukulele he gave on on playing decades ago, various art and craft supplies for various other hobbies he gave up on decades ago, half-used jars of car polish, discarded outfits, and more boxes of Stuff than he can even remember are there.

Very this, minus the dog.

And given that Hell is an overcrowded, broken-down, hazardous basement, and thus Crowley's flat is rather minimalist (though still austere), Asmodeus' workshop and museum is surgically clean, sparse, and almost clinical.
