“ WE ARE SUPPOSE TO ACT UNMOVED. — – ” as if staring into the eyes of death was easy, as if it didn’t stir up an emotion deep inside. the bad that came from the job, they were suppose to act like it didn’t h u r t and like they didn’t have a care in the world. “ but it can be hard, when we are faced with cases like this. ”
“ THEY MAKE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH. — – ” and maybe that’s why she brought it to the bau for help, maybe that’s why she wanted to get a second pair of eyes on the case. because as much as she tried to DENY IT, willa did feel things and was indeed a human being. a human being that had been through hell and back. a human being who had trouble dealing with cases that had to do with children. because she knew so well how it felt to lose the thing most precious to you, something that was part of you.
“ BUT MAYBE THAT’S OKAY. — – ” the fact that they felt anything meant that they were still human, they still had a grasp on their own sanity. ( their own humanity. ) “ because i will make us work harder. ” she had heard that it took a special person to do the jobs they did, that they were born with the ability to deal with tragic comings. but willa didn’t believe that. because when she joined the force so long ago, she was not the type of person who would of handled the life she had lived so far. no, she had BECOME the person who could handle the job. willa became the right person. “ work to put this nadhil away for good. ” she waved her hand, “ sorry sorry, how do you say… child born out of wedlock? ” bastard. she meant bastard.
“I understand.” Emily says softly, closing the file and looking up at the other woman. “I know it can, they make me sick to look at too. Though we can’t show it to the outside world, you’re right about that too. Everyone looks up to us as knowing what to do, how to act - if you can’t do that you have to tell me.” She hates how that sounds but it’s true.
“But, I understand.” Emily whispers. “My son just turned 19, but all of these kids,” she lifts up the file. “Every one of them makes me think of him when he was their age and that enrages us. The anger and the upset it makes us feel, we need to use that to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.” nadhil, bastard, a smile spreads across Emily’s face and she chuckles lightly. “Bastard, that’s the word you’re looking for and you’re right, he’s a bastard and we’re going to stop him.”
