Lesson 22: You're gonna hear about his haters but you have to chill.
April 4th, 2013 11:53am
I was browsing through random posts in the internet out of boredom when I came across a thread started by a woman ranting about Robin and how terrible he was at his job. It was on twitter and she even had the nerve of tagging his account as if she was slapping him in the face directly. I guess it was because she knew that Robin would never brush off a person especially those who wanted to confirm press releases. Being the person that he is, Robin graciously replied to all her questions regarding the issues concerning him and the people who work for him. The girl sounded like she was trying to corner him and put him in a very tight situation so that she might finally put him to shame but Robin was always prepared with a level-headed answer, still keeping his cool the whole time. It was a long thread until finally the girl failed to reply to his last post.
There are times like this when I want to tear someone's head off, drown them in a pool of their own blood, chop their body parts into pieces, and feed them to the dogs for judging him and thinking that they already know what makes him tick based on what they see on tv or what they read about him on the net. No one can control what the media says or publishes. They have the right for freedom of speech as much as any person does. They can also be subjective even when they say they're only reporting what the public ought to know. The sickening thing about this is, bad news buys better than good news. The public loves a story that proves their untouchable celebrities are actually only humans who errs.
Whenever I talk to Robin about these, he tells me to shrug it off because these type of people are not worth all the bother.
"You get pissed, okay it's normal. But what's that going to do? They will still hate on you. They will criticize every small detail of your existence from how you talk, to how you pick up your cookie. And they will hate on you if that cookie isn't even chocolate chip. They can blow that detail up and say that you're turning anorexic and no longer eat fattening food. Do you get what I'm saying? So the best thing to do is not mind them and continue doing your job the best way you can possible. They're like bullies. And I don't give a sh*t about them liking me. I do my job and I do it well."
There are people who just wants to watch the world burn. They have nothing else to do but try and destroy what other people work their asses off for because they get money for that. He told me he has been in the industry that long and criticism no longer affects him. He knows what he's doing, he knows he does it well, whatever the public's opinion about him does not matter because they don't know any better. Their facts are distorted because they think whatever the media releases are FACTS. They don't go to the main source of the data.
It sometimes surprises me how mature Robin handles situations like this. If I was in his place I wouldn't stop myself saying "Shut the fuck up bitch." to that girl who got all her facts wrong. For him, it's just part of the everyday-life he lives. You cannot definitely make everyone love you. But he says as long as he knows I'm at his side, he's confident to continue fighting his battle.
It has to happen at least once a cycle. Deep inside a campaign bunker, away from the buzz and annoyances of outside influences, somebody always decides it's a good idea to invoke the name of Hitler, or the atrocities carried about by the Nazis in the Second World War, to make a great political point. And every time some campaign decides now is the time to use that illustration to make a point - it blows up in their face. This Joe the Plumber piece is no exception.
You are never, ever, ever going to be able to make political points invoking the memory of the Holocaust. Look, every person on this planet with an ounce of decency in their pinky toe knows Hitler and the atrocities carried out by him and the Nazis were pure evil. No candidate is every going to be first one to introduce that issue into the campaign sphere successfully...ever. So please - unless you want to give your opponent an easy target - don't bring it up when trying to make a political point. It's pointless.
And yes - Mr. The Plumber got negative press on the video.
