Just realize it been a year (and a month passed) since my first session with a psychiatrist and I did it last year on my first love birthday (no longer love him ofc been years ago but what a coincidence). I thought I did my first session in October so I forgot to put it on the September post. Yea September has always been a complicated month for me.
Okay, today I just join an online book festival with my favorite author as a speaker. Baek Se Hee as an author of ‘I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokpokki’s book, one of my favorite books this year. She said her book is the first book with mental health disorder survivor POV mostly in Korea books about mental illness are wrote by doctors, I just know Korean rarely speak up about their mental health problem they are not freely open up to talk about sadness to others because they think when life gets hard it just what it suppose to be and hold their feelings. Surprisingly her book becomes the best seller in Korea, so it might be many people feel the same way as her, struggling with their mental illness. She said she is happy to hear stories about her readers when it come to mental health and feels inspired by her book, she is thankful.
About her book, it contains her conversation with her psychiatrist every time she had a session with, and sometimes she put her thoughts and talk about her feeling about her condition and it really inspired me. She got some negative comments too about her book but she thought it was okay because she can’t make all people like her and focus on positive reviews even there is a comment that really hurt her. Writing has become her therapy, by writing the conversation between her and her doctor it makes her more understanding about what to do to be better.
By reading her book and join the online meeting I wish I could keep sharing something about my healing journey because like Se Hee said she keep going to write trough negative comments around because she thought somebody out there who still struggling will need it, so she keep sharing about her process to be better and inspire others.
I’m so happy from joining this afternoon online meeting!
