hi! i saw your question on my post! it'd be fine to like, dress like nicki minaj does and say "i'm nicki!" but if you were to choose one of her outfits that has a lot of her traditional things from her home country then that would be bad. of course never blackface never ever! remember that race =/= culture! that was a good question btw most people don't think to ask that!
Why is that bad? That is what I do not understand. I am not making my face darker to make fun of her, I am doing it so my costume is closer to reality. The same with wearing traditional things - I respect and appreciate her culture, I’m not trying to be offensive.
For example, I dont know how familiar you are with kpop and stuff but there is a girl called Hyorin and her skin is darker than other idols’ and on a comedy show they impersonated her and made her skin extremely dark and made fun of it. That, I understand, it’s extremely offensive and rude. But what if I don’t do it with the purpose of making fun of someone?
Thank you for your message though, darling~
