Heyy Al how are you? I'm watching the news as we speak and I realized there's a lot of buzz around Zandvoort that people outside of the NL don't know about. I figured you'd might like to know.
So a while back the prime-minister gave a press conference about COVID as is normal these days and one of the things mentioned was the the Zandvoort GP is allowed to go through, not with max capacity but still a lot of people. Another thing is that festivals and big events aren't allowed yet and nightclubs stay closed. Days after that, news broke that there are a lot of camping sites around the Zandvoort circuit for the GP-public. So that's campingsites... near a large area of outside land where thousands of people are going to watch an event.......... sounds a lot like a festival. So the entertainment industry went ham (I can def see why) and last weekend there were protests all over the country in a movement called Unmute Us, hosted by people in the entertainment industries.
Anyway, now we're all yelling at the government which is currently a mess in and of itself and there are even sounds that the GP is going to be cancelled after all, or that no audience is allowed anymore.
So yea, that's my news of the day 😂 no idea how much of this is common knowledge in other countries so figured I'd share
Oh wow I hadn’t heard anything about that- it sounds really bad.
I knew that Zandvoort wasn’t going ahead with max capacity and I remember someone saying something before that they wouldn’t run the event if they couldn’t have crowds.
This takes things to another level, especially as it’s only next week.
I hope they can get something sorted out.
