more opinions 4 your consideration: korra is a good well-rounded character!! and the sequel trilogy was fucked the moment they red herringed finn

korra is A FANTASTIC character, full stop. the exploration of what it does to grow up KNOWING you are the Avatar but also so isolate from the world it’s your duty to protect, but ALSO a world that has developed so fast and doesn’t seem to need you in the same way anymore? FASCINATING. And Korra’s so cool! She’s so different from Aang, but she also has that fundamental decency and (eventually) sense of responsibility, and seeing how she goes through PTSD and doesn’t recover right away (or even fully!) was so well done. I love Korra and I love LOK, whatever, I don’t even care. I EVEN LIKE SEASON 2, FIGHT MEEEE.

i kno the EXACT moment the sequel trilogy went off the rails: when rian johnson was hired  decided he couldn’t write finn and poe going off on an adventure TOGETHER because they were TOO SIMILAR and writing them as having distinct voices was TOO HARD. bc of his hard-on for Kyle and Rey and their ~connection~, he couldn’t have Finn go off with Rey, and he needed Poe to be stuck on the ship to bump up against Holdo for #girlboss reasons, so that left Finn to -- flounder around with THE EXACT SAME ARC he had in TFA (moving from being traumatized by the FO and desperate to escape it, to being willing to face the FO and fight back against it to protect The Galaxy). and having established rey and KYLE as the primary narrative duo or w/e, course correcting in TROS would’ve taken either work JJ wasn’t willing to do, or creative control JJ didn’t have, or both. anyway it’s a fucking mess and John Boyega deserves the world.
