Post true ending Lacenet but Lace "in love" due to projection, seeing Hornet as the only person capable of grounding her to reality, the only one who did not give up on her and freed her. She stoped being dependent on her mother, and started to be dependent on Hornet, seeking endlesly to her aproval , her attention.
Hornet in the other side, is mildly uncomfortable with it. She feels nothing, she detests being put in such pedestal. And above everything else, she genuienly just wants lace to grow out of this dependent behaviour, she wants Lace to be her own person.
Hornet understands Lace is doing so because she needs someone to gound her, thats the way shes coping with losing like, all the meaning of her life. And thats the only thing that keeps her from cutting Lace's obssesion completly.
Time goes by and after a long healing process, Lace finally does not depend on anyone else. Shes got her own friend circles, her own dynamics with people of which do not depend on Hornet being around whatsoever. With her actual independence the "love" she felt shufted into a really strong friendship from both parties. Theyre genuienly close and intimate, but not in the romantic way.
And for a while it is like thar, theyre both happy!!!
But now its Hornet's turn to fall in love. It starts really slow with just some dumb soft thoughts to straight up being actually flustred with Lace's stupid joke flirts.
And she feels AWFUL. She feels vulnerable and pathetic! Not just that but of all POSSIBLE moments why now? Now thst they already have a grestly stablished friendship, one she was happy would probably last as much as she lived. The idea of being in actual love with lace felt like a cataclisma in her life, specially considering how lace herself would joke about how she once were in love with hornet.
That results in a long time hiding and pretending nothing was ever there, not know that lace felt THE EXACT SAME.
The turth is, the crush she had never went away. Its just morphed into smth manageble and genuine, instead of pure projecting and mental illness.
So they end up both in a situation where they are mutualy pretending nothing is there and going INSANE about it.
It comes to a point where their friendship becomes something of... Undiscribable nature. And Hornet just decides to put an end to it, she confesses, fully convinced it wont result in anything, she even asks Lace to pretend she never said anything. Just to hear a loud laugh and a "ME TOO"
