December 4 Chronicles
Some days, a lot of significant things happen. On this particular day, five (or more) big things have happened that have been covered on this blog! Days such as this are referred to as banner days, and this is one of them.
(As a personal note, December 4 has special meaning as the first day to achieve banner day status on this blog in December 2019. Just goes to show just how much was going on…

Banner Day Overall.
One for the books. :)
It started with 7 hours of sleep, and breakfast. Breakfast consisted of (and this is, of course, more for my benefit than yours): 1 banana, a cup of yogurt (mixed berry flavor, mmm), 1 serving strawberries, 2 tbsp of the best damn peanut butter I’ve ever tasted.
I packed my snacks and lunch for the day -- because of my long days, I need to plan my meals -- and I made myself a tuna sandwich on whole wheat bread for later (which I ate at around 2 o’clock with an apple). Then, baby carrots, and Craisins brand of dried cranberries were snacks for in between classes/during class, respectively.

Today is completely amazing. I am so proud of the decision our Supreme Court made and the efforts of everyone countrywide to make this day possible. Through all the celebration, it's easy to forget that not even ten years ago, marriage equality was seemingly out of reach. Today I live in a country where a basic civil right is afforded to all. It's not about religion or politics. Today is simply about love. Today I also pause for reflection. Up until a year ago, Jax and I were still second class citizens in the eyes of our country. Obviously that changed when Jax's gender marker changed, however our lives are still not without struggle. Today is a HUGE victory. But the fight still isn't over. There is still work to be done. Second parent adoption or reproductive rights for LGBT couples. Transgender rights, having trans issues recognized by insurance companies. The list goes on and on. Today we celebrate, tomorrow, we go back to work. Congratulations America.
