MORE BABY TURTLE HEADCANONS!
~ Splinter didn’t know if the hatchlings should have a normal turtle diet or human baby diet, so he tried out multiple methods to see which worked best.
~ Raph ended up needing to drink a strong formula with turtle flakes mixed in, Mikey ended up needed to drink light formula with a few berries and greens mixed in, Donnie ended up sticking to apple juice throughout their entire youngling years, and Leo ended up needing a sweetened soy formula.
~ Leo enjoyed his formula so much that his brothers would get jealous and demand that he shared it with them (Splinter would never let this happen, and this served to plant the seed of Leo’s ego)
~ Mikey sucked his thumb as a hatchling, contributing to his tooth gap.
~ The twins would occasionally tag team Splinter and play with his tail for hours (He allowed them to do so, as he learned from the first time it happened that baby turtle teeth hurt his rat paws very much).
~ Raph was always the peacemaker of the family, and wouldn’t hesitate to separate his younger brothers from each other long before an argument/scuffle started.
~ Before finding out about pizza, the boys would happily munch on every mealworm, ant, and beetle they could find (they only stopped favoring them as much after they discovered their favorite food).
~ Leo was incredibly playful, cuddly, and curious as a hatchling, and would constantly snuggle up against his brothers whenever he felt like it (neither Raph nor Mikey minded, but Donnie would always give false threats to hit Leo before inevitably allowing Leo to cuddle up as close as desired).
~ The boys loved to jump into dumpsters whenever Splinter took them topside with him to search for supplies.
~ Not unlike the formula situation, none of the brothers allowed each other to eat their own foods separately; they had a system that forced them to pass their food around whenever they ate different foods.
~ Raph was a biter, true to his species.
~ Raph’s first word was: Daddy!
~ Donnie’s first word was: Papa.
~ Mikey’s first word was: PAPPY!
~ Leo’s first word was: Tom-o-woo
