Had a very successful magma with some buds
When I was making the previous post involving this chapter/scene it was close to the time when I'd have to go to work, so I forgot to include this last follow-up line at the time, but I also wanted to mention it as another example of what I meant about Dark Horse's translations sometimes being way too literal. The terms that seem to have confused them here are "外道" (gedou) and "味" (aji). Gedou originally means someone or something outside of buddhist teachings, but in general it means to be immoral or heretical, to be a scumbag or a demon or a corrupt person spiritually. It's not strictly religious in modern usage, it's often used in a general sense. I think they took this so literally because the individual kanji are the ones for "outside" and "path/road", but being a gedou is more about going down a spiritually incorrect path rather than a literal outside road, and the term isn't referring to the path itself but rather the person on that hypothetical path. DH also seemingly took "aji" to mean literal taste here, and while it does mean taste it's not always a physical taste. It can also mean the essence or nature of something that makes it uniquely itself.
What Wolfwood is basically saying here is that "a wicked/rotten person will have the nature (taste) of a wicked/rotten person until they die." This is pretty much his concluding statement about humans not changing. Their past ensnares them and becomes an intrinsic part of who they are, so much so that trying to break free of that would destroy them, so evil people stay evil because it's in their nature. It's his way of saying the Gung-Ho Guns (himself included), and to a greater extent much of humanity, are a lost cause because he's in cynical sassy butthole mode. The pyramids are on the horizon and Wolfwood's ankles are getting so very wet.
Also in this page at the end of this chapter:
The original meaning/joke gets pretty lost, which is a shame because I think it's a cute Milly moment lol. The original Japanese is:
Milly: "トマッ!!! はいんないっス!! Meryl: "おいてお行きなさいミリィ!!" Jessica: "ウラに小屋がありますんでミリィさん!!" Milly: "大丈夫ですか?お腹すかせたりしませんか?トイレはうんこはおしっこは?" Jessica: "全部揃ってますから!!" Milly: "ウヒョーホントだ先輩見てみて五ッ星ですよ!!" Meryl: "ミリィ!!バタバタ走らない!!"
Here's how I might translate it:
Milly: "The toma! They won't go inside!" Meryl: "Just leave them behind Milly!" Jessica: "There's a stable around the back miss Milly!" Milly: "Will they be okay there? What if they get hungry? Is there a bathroom? What if they have to go pee or poo?" Jessica: "They'll have everything they need!" Milly: "Really? Woohoo! Check it out ma'am! Looks like they'll get to stay at a five star hotel!" Meryl: "Milly! Settle down!"
The joke is Milly trying and failing to bring the toma along in the gondola, then stressing over leaving them behind, ending with her comparing the stable they get left in to five star accommodations (the term Jessica used is "小屋" which can mean shack or hut but would mean something closer to an animal pen, like a stable, in this context). I'm not entirely sure where DH got the "all over" or "throw up" parts and they left out or missed the "five star" joke entirely.
Also hilariously enough these are the toma that belonged to Jessie, so I guess Milly just straight up took them with her for emotional support, only to leave them in a stable behind the haunted mansion-ass gondola station anyway lmfao.
[DISCORD]
Greetings! It's been awhile but wowie, Trigun-themed D𝔦scord server be upon ye!
This server was created to share our love for the series and to keep the community actively engaged by offering frequent creative events, challenges, gi/ve/aw/ays & more!
I've been tasked to draw emotes for the Discord server! They will not be uploaded on my Ko-fi so if you wish to access them - come join us via the link in my carrd on my profile (or below)!
The team figured it would be best to start off with the basics and then add more via emote polls on the server for members to decide what and who to add next, so expect more of these showcases if things go well with the server. <3

❖ IMPORTANT: These emotes were custom made for the Discord mentioned, please do not reupload/edit/trace them. Thank you.

Will remove this section again once the gi/ve/aw/ay ended but there will be more in the future/on a monthly base.
