I think this is the Miss Suzette doll that speaks to me the most. She looks like she has Plans. I think she'll be the one that I end up drawing! I have two girls lined up before her, but I'm very excited.

I know you've said you like clone/"knockoff" dolls, does the same extend to scary ass bootlegs? I've always been fascinated by cheap productions of toys that come out ugly and terrifying. I think I relate to them.

i think they all have their own charm! my other love, pizza robots, may have numbed me to all things scary and ugly

On one hand I have the idea it would be fun to get a Shillman or Tara Toy Barbie clone case for my clone gals and their stuff, on the other I have one of those vinyl ballet boxes like half of us kept our dolls in back in the day.

I got a bundle of clone dolls because I was facinated with one of them (first photo) who's actual body is SHIIIIIT. She's one of those pencil leg barbie clones but her little stick legs are also sticky (ewwww) and her neck broke. I rammed her onto this body to see if it would work but the neck is, i think, too short. But I can't get her head OFF again easily so she's staying like this for now til I find a different body and can be arsed heating her head up.

Her hair is also terrible and really badly rooted so it's coming out in clumps. I do think her face is amazing enough to deserve a reroot though. I thought she might be a repaint originally but no, I think her eyes are actually stamped or sprayed. Either way, she's quite something.

oh and the flowers and butterfly are hot glued to her hair so that's a whole.. thing. She came in an ugly fairy outfit that's also got shit glued to it and a not terrible pair of fishnets which she gets to keep.

most of the lot are old steffi loves who are, to be fair, extremely cute. I may keep one of them.

But there's also two Betty Teen dolls including this girl in the incredible tacky disco suit which I simply MUST know more about. I mean it's fucking hideous! It's incredible in its hideousness.

And the final clone is a doll from a company I had never heard of. Multi Toys Corp, who apparently made a fair few things in the 80s. I don't know her name, but I did find a few images of furniture made by Multi toys with a doll like her as a model. I also found their mermaid line looks quite a bit like her, but with different hair. So hmmm.

But yeah, more fun with clones wheee.

First look at the vintage clones, not counting two Maddie Mod heads and a Tammy and hopefully no one else in the reroot bin.

There's a fake action Syndi, a Dendre Star, Ms, a Charlie and a head. The black one is the open mouth Francie/Twiggy super rare even tho she's missing a leg. Red dress is a face old Licca. Pink hat is a Mattel pioneer on a Sunshine Family type body. Black suit is a Mego Charlie's Angels.
