Enjoying my rainy day off with this sweetie. I rescued this pigeon from a feed store where she was being raped by the male pigeons and had most of the feathers on the back of her neck ripped out and a huge wound that wouldn't heal. She also was starving because the more dominate pigeons wouldn't allow her to eat. She just looked at me and something was shared and I knew I had to take her and here we are a month later. She is all healed up and fat and happy. She has attached herself to her coup so I can now allow her out during the day to be free and fly and she comes home to us when the sun goes down. And even more recently she has started to become very affectionate and will cuddle and hang out in the house. She grooms me any chance she gets and our bond is growing and I am astounded at how sweet and smart she is. We call her our medicine pigeon and named her after my grandma. So grateful for such an unexpected companion who has really made an impression on our house and our hearts. #medicinepigeon #barbspangs #rescue
