Pamela Moore - Teenybopper (The Exile of Suzy-Q) - Paperback - 1968
I get on the train and see that someone notices my feet. He starts saying something, so I shift my headphones off one ear and catch the end of a sentence commenting that I lost my shoes.
"Yes," I say, "a long time ago."
And he laughs.
As I continue down the aisle, finding myself a seat, I hear another one in their group say, "She must have painful feet," presumably thinking I'm carrying heels somewhere in my bag that became too painful after some late-night dancing - as if I would ever wear heels or go dancing.
The man who I talked to must have said something, because then I hear, "Oh, like a lifestyle?"
Amusing.
Contrast of a submissive girl barefoot with a man with his protected feet.

Bare-footing
Why go barefoot? Our bipedalism, which seems so self-evident to us, is a real challenge for a mammal. The price to pay comes as we grow older with it:
𑁍 sprains 𑁍 back pain 𑁍 losses of balance and falls 𑁍 an often premature loss of motor function
In fact, our ability to remain in balance is ensured by a network of muscles from our feet to our arms, which work in coordination to allow us to function in this unstable balance, on two points of support. This network of muscles is really our main muscle system.
In our modern lifestyle we walk less and less, spend less and less time standing. Moreover, the little we do walk is with shoes and on smooth, flat surfaces.
As everywhere, our cognitive system has led us to deny reality (direct contact with the ground), and to shape it to our liking (flat and smooth floors).
The consequences are multiple:
degeneration of our main musculoskeletal system loss of contact with reality: we wander in absence, the mobile to the ear or in front of the eyes, elsewhere... this negation of reality finally makes us extremely arrogant, forgetful of Nature, and allows us to live in the pure mind and negation of the flow of Creation. no more energy 'grounding' to discharge us from negative energies
Re-educate Of course, first of all, it is a question of re-educating our bipedalism. What allows us to walk on natural ground is not the horn that could replace our shoes. It is all these muscles of balance and equilibrium which allow us to avoid weighing where a small grain stings the sole of our foot a little. And every little seed, grain or pebble we walk on sets all these muscles in motion up to our elbows, our arms helping to balance the imbalance.
Listening to the flow of creation No choice, you have to be fully engaged in your journey, attentive, respectful, and subject to the Universe. It is a great school of humility, of centering, of anchoring. We find our true ladder in the Universe!
In order to optimise this (spiritual) approach and our walk, I recommend that you play the game, and abandon all your materiality: your bags and your ointments, your hats and your dogs, your mobiles and your fears, your jumpers and your trousers. Dress as little as possible, take minimal shoes, quickly put them on, quickly take them off. Prepare to let go and confide in the Universe.
