Do you have a masterpost explaining barghests? They're super cool 👀

They’re relatively new, so I don’t actually have much info about them up. They’ve sort of branched off from kiakrians (Finch’s old design). I wanted Finch to look more predatory and sharp for story purposes, but I was having a lot of trouble with successfully getting that look with her old design. I still love kiakrians and I plan on using her old design for a different character.

I wanted barghests to capture the eerie feeling you get while reading folklore about monsters that stalk the forests. They are sort of like dragons in the way that there aren’t many of them and the people of my headworld tell stories about conquering them. Barghests aren’t necessarily evil, however.

They usually differ from each other greatly but most have a slight ability to shape-shift. Their skill is different depending on the individual, but most can change the size and shape of their teeth. They can appear to be headless to unnerve their foes.

The way you draw barghests is really inaccurate. They're small and pudgy ugly piggish looking things, not cute dog lizards like the massiffs. If you want to give your characters cute animals then pick something cute.

This looks pretty cute to me! Look at that creature! It's so round! And it's got fur! I'll guarantee there's probably some diversity among individual barghests, but then again we only ever saw one in canon I believe?

Just look at that face. Look at that smile! It screams cute alien doggo lizard to me!

In other words, if you think barghests aren't cute pets get ready to be told you have poor taste.
