‼️⁉️wait i NEED to talk about this card that just dropped. (NOT MY PICTURES! FOUND PHOTOS OF IT ON TWITTER!!)
So we all know about Alastor being particularly sensitive about being recorded, photographed, etc.
His whole iconic “This face was made for radio!! 🤓☝️☝️” line + Charlie saying Alastor doesnt do well on camera in the promotion video!
So then….why…HOW DID VOX GET SUCH A CLEAR PHOTO + COOPERATION FROM ALASTOR?
My theory is that Alastor intentionally messes with the radiowaves or whatever in technology, basically using his powers to mess up any potential recordings of him.
Meaning that in this particular photo he took with Vox, he wanted to stay clear!
Vivzie said that this is Vox’s personal photo of the two. He owns the one and only copy.
Alastor toning down his powers here to take a picture with Vox in the past means that he knew Vox cared about it and therefore he indulged him by allowing it to happen!
For someone as emotionally constipated as Alastor, this gesture is unusually kind.
You COULD try and argue that Alastor only became sensitive to being photographed and recorded after his falling out with Vox…but I dont think thats true.
Considering Alastors history and experiences as a mixed race man in the 1920s, its extremely plausible that hes always been nervous about being perceived by the media.
Being a radio host allowed him to put his voice out there without his listeners judging him off his appearance first and foremost. His power in life came from his ability to separate his voice from his racial identity.
Thats earnestly why I believe hes so set in the idea that his face is purely reserved for radio.
All this to say:
Alastor disregarded quite a few of his personal boundaries just to please Vox. This in addition to allowing Vox to touch him without any outright rejections is quite telling.
So yeah. I think he did care. At least a little 🤭
