in an effort to feel less bleh after being asleep all day I am googling more barnacle facts. did you know they expand their shells over time! we're not totally sure how they do it since once they're adults they don't molt like other crustaceans. but the current theory is that they add layers to the outside of their shells and then sort of. dissolve the inside.
also because the barnacle glue is so strong (far outlasts the life of the barnacle and withstands sea water and constant physical and temperature stress) they're trying to figure out how to recreate it for dental and industrial applications.
and they all have penises AND ovaries. thanks barnacles 🙏
the barnacles are becoming really load bearing for me i fear. last night I was lying in bed unable to sleep bc I was walking through the steps I would need to take to canvas for the rent stabilization bill currently in the MA legislature (not a thing I can currently do because a) today i celebrated a big illness milestone of being able to sit up and watch one whole episode of television and b) no one is actually canvassing for this bill!) and I was like. wait. I don't need to be doing this right now. in fact I can't do this right now. you know what I can think about is barnacles. and it worked thank you barnacles 🙏🙏
