Baron Hill
🏚 Baron Hill, Beaumaris. 🏚
Good luck finding the damned place.
Baron Hill Anglesey - The lodge. was it completely rebuilt from the last photo or were there two lodges?
the house was originally built in 1618.
In the eighteenth century the house was the seat of Lord Viscount Bulkeley, who maintained Jacobite sympathies. The Neo-Palladian style is obvious from the curved facade of the building to the terraces, follies and balconies; this was the style adopted during the 1776 reconstruction of the mansion by architect Samuel Wyatt.
As was sadly very common, post WW1 death duties soaked up the family fortune and made it difficult for the family (by then called Williams-Bulkeley) to maintain the house. It is difficult to work out exactly when the house was abandoned but suspect it was post WW2.
During WW2 Royal Engineers were stationed at the house. So it mast have still been habilable at that point.
After the war at some point it was gutted by fire, but the shell of the house survives.
The shell remains on private land
Baron Hill Anglesey - as a ruinous shell
Plans may be rebuild and convert to flats, permission was allegedly granted nearly a decade ago but not a lot seems to have happened

Live long and prosper Baron Hill!
#governormikepence primed for Trump? by Steve Baker Via Flickr: Will Mike Pence be picked by Trump or will he lose out to the ancient Newt Gingrich who is older than Donald Trump? At least this election is a boost to all of us baby boomers. GO OLD FOLKS!
