I just rewatched Punch-Drunk Love, and by a 2025 perspective, I think it's safe to say Adam Sandler's character have some sort of neurodivergence. But, back in 2002, he probably wasn't even written with any specific diagnosis in mind. Barry Egan was just an anxious weird guy.
