BARTOMEU SASTRE @bartomeusastre Arco Lisboa Viewing Room @galeriafranreus The phrase "This story is no longer available" appears timidly, as if it wanted to hide, in negative and black and white, on a photograph. In the image we see the tree branch, specifically a carob tree, the fruits of which were a very important part of the Balearic economy. But that now, due to the economic and system changes, it has been losing importance. The phrase actually can be found as an error message on Instagram. Where its users share stories that self-destruct after 24 hours. Stories with an expiration date. Whether they are phrases, photographs or videos, they are not made to survive the passage of history but to reflect an instant, to immediately pass into absolute oblivion. Just as it is happening with our history and traditions today. The phrase "Dreams are super real" comes from the negative image of a spiked plant. A self-defense system, as they can sometimes be Dreams. A place where, despite its strangeness, we live as if it were real and where we are capable of anything. A mental space in which we confuse everything and where there are no limits. As if the unconscious protected us from the outside world from within ourselves. What is more real, if everything is based on a construction of values? In such a case "the weights of all things must be determined anew”. A photograph taken during one of many aimless walks, taken around the outskirts of Esporles, the artist's town. A plant in shabby small garden, almost abandoned. The image immerses us in a dreamlike and suggestive environment with striking and exotic colors. However, these effects are achieved artificially, through the digital modification of the image with filters, layers, etc. A series of modifications that "damage" the image. That tense it to take it to the limit, to see how far we can go. Proposing thus, a game of values, by means of positive / negative colors vs. interior / exterior of the plant, of its body. Of our body. #bartomeusastre #photography #montage #galeriafranreus #arcolisboa (en ARCO Lisboa) https://www.instagram.com/p/CA0b7MElmyj/?igshid=1v4v4vijjge2m
