She’d thought she was at home. Like- At home, on the phone, calling in to explain why she hadn’t come in, but- somehow, and this was a frightening somehow, not only was she ‘at work’, she was laying on a medical cot before Nicole, tissues plugging her nose up, ice pack on her forehead.

Or would they feel uneasy until they got that peace they were unknowingly searching for? “Don’t get me wrong, there’s some people who probably don’t deserve it but I would take it over the alternative.” Taking a sip of her coffee, she spoke again. “Do you think there’s life after death?”

“ i don’t know ! ” her hands were clenched onto her head as she spat the words out, in a futile attempt to find a peace of mind. the screens in front of her all showed different snippets of a battle that she was on the verge of losing. she wracked her head for anything that could help to minimize the damage that she had already done to her team. but nothing came up.
